Every day, we encounter someone who is battling cancer. Regardless of whether that person is directly related to us or not, we are struck by the enormity of this illness. We can hardly imagine what this individual must face. Furthermore, we cannot even begin to digest the continual impact this disease has on family and friends striving to support the patient.
The accompanying family and friends often need as much support as the patient themselves. In addition to the stress of caring for their loved one, they have practical matters to consider: Where will they live? How can they afford it? How do they get around this city?
Our goal is to alleviate some of the strain that is imposed on these caregivers. These individuals juggle enormous responsibilities, and our desire is to provide a place of respite for them too, especially after long days supporting treatment.
By tapping into our resources, planning fundraisers, and generating community awareness, Friday Harbour will strive to lend a helping hand to anyone who is in need of assistance.
